Examination and Transfer Credit

Credit by Transfer

The college will complete an evaluation of transfer credits earned from another college or university. Students must complete 25% of their coursework at Craven Community College to be eligible for graduation. Credits earned with a grade of “C” or higher at an accredited institution may be accepted at Craven Community College, provided they are appropriate to the student’s program and comparable to courses offered at Craven. Credit hour totals and course content will be considered when determining potential equivalency. The catalog and/or course descriptions from other institutions attended may be required for evaluation before credit is granted. Coursework over fifteen years old may not be accepted. Evaluation of such credits will be made on an individual basis. The transfer of courses for some programs may require approval from an academic department or the Chief Academic Officer. Transcripts from institutions outside the United States must be evaluated and translated (if applicable) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES).

Credit for Prior Learning

Established equivalencies are published on the college website. Official transcripts must be submitted to the Registrar's Office for credit to be awarded.
